Frome and its Festival

Frome Festival is a dynamic community festival held annually every July in Frome, Somerset. Across a ten-day programme, the Festival hosts 200 events, workshops and activities featuring a broad range of arts and culture in over 40 venues across the town, from concert halls and theatres to churches, pubs and parks. 

The Festival’s mission is to celebrate Frome’s unique arts scene by providing accessible cultural events for over 12,000 attendees per year and championing our creative community by providing an annual platform for over 100 events delivered by local artists and community groups.

The Festival engages over 100 local volunteers and partners with over 60 local companies as venues and event sponsors. Frome Festival has a proud tradition of maintaining accessible ticket pricing across its events – in 2022, the Festival featured an average of 5 free events per day.

Frome Festival’s broad programme includes events in a diverse range of places and spaces across the town. From large venues to churches, libraries to pubs, events are designed in many shapes and sizes to engage audiences and participants of all ages.

Frome is a vibrant and historic market town in Somerset, dating back to 685 and with a population of around 27,000. It boasts the largest number of listed buildings in Somerset. During the Festival period the town’s population swells and enquiries to the information centre almost double.

Sponsorship is particularly important to us to ensure our survival, and we are immensely grateful for the support given to us by local businesses especially during financially challenging times.

There is no doubt that the Festival puts Frome on the map; you have only to tour the streets during Festival Week to see the effect it has on the town. And we know that Frome Festival delivers a real boost to the town’s economy.
