SUMMARY:THE PAPERBACK REVOLUTION - THE EARLY HISTORY OF PENGUIN BOOKS
DESCRIPTION:Paperback books were not readily available a century ago. Launched in 1935\, Penguin Books cost only 6 pence each\, a fraction of the price of hardbacks. Suddenly\, ordinary people could accumulate their own libraries\, expanding their horizons. Barry Edwards explores the social impact of this paperback revolution up to 1960 and the publication of ‘Lady Chatterley’s Lover’!
