DESCRIPTION:Listed between Chet Baker and Count Basie in Geoffrey Smiths BBC publication ‘100 Jazz Greats’\, Frome resident Iain Ballamy has a rare and beautiful sound on the tenor saxophone\, both captivating and instantly recognisable. His remarkable quartet features fellow Frome-based jazz luminaries –  pianist Gareth Williams\, bassist Nick Pini and drummer Dave Smith. \nSince emerging in the early 80’s with Loose Tubes\, Django Bates and Bill Bruford’s Earthworks\, Iain Ballamy has established himself as a player and composer of note on the world’s jazz stages and as a contemporary classical soloist with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC Philharmonic Orchestras. \nBallamy’s repertoire covers great range includes new original works and also some unexpected re-workings of the songs that inspired his musical journey . \nwww.ballamy.com
