The duo Spafford Campbell began playing live in 2018\, prompting double takes with their delicacy\, dynamism and seemingly telepathic exchanges\, with the startling intimacy of musical conversations nurtured in improv-led writing sessions. \nTheir latest album Tomorrow Held is a visionary body of eight largely instrumental tracks that hold space\, resolve into mystery\, that fold in elements of jazz\, post-rock and chamber classical music while raiding the folk music toolbox. Call it what you want: post-folk. Trad-noir. Folk nihilism. Then know that Spafford Campbell are blazing a trail that erases genre — and finds gold in the embers. While redolent of Talk Talk’s moody\, experimental 1988 opus Spirit of Eden\, and riven with a Bon Iver-ish sense of transcendence\, Tomorrow Held is a work of bold singularity. All ticket holders will be contacted regarding refunds** \nStep back in time to meet one of the UK’s most celebrated cult television entertainers! \nWacaday’s utterly brilliant\, ‘Timmy Mallett’ will be joining us on Friday 10th July at Rook Lane Chapel\, Frome. The evening will feature an intimate up close and personal event with an onstage live interview plus an audience Q&A hosted by former ITV presenter\, Jon Monie. \nExpect fun\, laughter and the possibility of an impromptu game of Mallett’s Mallet! \nTimmy began presenting on our television screens with the brand-new Wide Awake Club in 1984\, alongside Michaela Strachan. In 1985\, Timmy was offered the chance to present a spin-off of Wide Awake Club\, called Wacaday. The programme was characterised by games such as the now classic “Mallett’s Mallet” \nSince then Timmy has hosted many successful shows and regularly makes guest appearances on other programmes where his entertaining opinions\, loud looks and good humour make him a popular guest. \nWith West End show producer Andrew Lloyd Webber\, Timmy Mallett formed the “band” Bombalurina\, reaching number 1 in the official UK charts whilst topping the charts in more than a dozen countries around the world. He’s worked with George Martin and featured in Skepta’s music video for the hit song\, ‘Rolex Sweep’ accompanying Skepta at the MOBO awards. \nTimmy is an accomplished artist who has had his work exhibited at various art galleries; enjoys cult status among students and young adults\, has sat on every seat at Man Utd and City; owns over 87 pairs of specs; built a pole house on the great barrier reef\, cycled thousands of miles around the coastline of England and Ireland\, and gave a break to Mike Myers & Chris Evans among others; debated at the Oxford Union and runs his own successful TV production company. \nInterviewer\, Jon Monie is a familiar face to West County audiences – either through his fifteen years as a presenter for HTV/ITV West\, or from his many comic pantomime performances. \nThis Christmas will be his 24th panto season\, having performed at Bath’s Theatre Royal over 1\,300 times. \nAs an award-winning writer he has scripted numerous pantomimes which are performed throughout the UK each year\, five children’s plays\, and is currently working on the book and lyrics of a new musical which is set to tour in 2027. \nRecent TV acting credits include The Nevers (HBO); Showtrial and The Outlaws (both BBC)\, and Bridgerton (Netflix). SUMMARY:BOUBACAR SAMAKE & ALOKA
DESCRIPTION:Boubacar Samake\, son of the late Malian music legend Sibiri Samake\, carries forward the deep spiritual tradition of Mali’s donso (hunter) music — a lineage of ritual melodies and rhythms played for courage\, healing\, and connection to the natural world. A virtuoso of the ngoni\, the plucked lute at the heart of donso music\, Boubacar is also one half of electro-afro innovators Siraba. He performs in this new line-up with Louis Campbell (electric guitar\, from alt-folk duo Spafford Campbell)\, Ben Nicholls (bass) and master percussionist Seydou Kienou from Burkina Faso\, whose djembe\, calabash and karagnan bring a visceral\, ancient pulse. Together they reframe this ancestral sound in a hypnotic\, blues-tinged dialogue that bridges West African tradition and modern experimentation. \nAloka is a young singer-songwriter from London but now living in Bristol. Growing up surrounded by music\, Aloka has been inspired from a young age to take up singing. She has carved out a unique sound\, drawing inspiration from neo-soul\, dub\, hip-hop and jazz. Her soaring vocals and heartfelt lyrics resonate with audiences and capture the hearts of listeners.
